I am very plain jane when it comes to what I do with my hair and I thought ‘you know what, I deserve to push my boundaries a little’. Well, I didn’t push them a little, the boundaries are none existent after this drastic colour change.
This was me before the colour change. I had ‘strawberry blonde’ hair as my mother would like to say but in fact, I was a ginger ninja! Nothing wrong with being ginger but you know when you reach that point of being bored and needing a change – that was me. I didn’t want to cut it short because it’s taken me like a century to grow my hair this length so colour change it was.
Originally the idea was to go blonde like a balayage but I didn’t feel like I would be satisfied with this. Doing my food shop for the month and the Schwarzkopf Intense Colour was on offer. £4.50 per box – bargain I thought! With the length of my hair and the thickness, I decided to buy two boxes which if it wasn’t on offer, it would pretty much be full price for the two.
I did have to use both boxes in the end because when I coloured it myself, I missed a few patched underneath. My mother was more than happy to help me with the patches and we managed to dye the cream bathroom carpet purple too. My father was not impressed with that at all.
Overall, my thoughts on this product are that its perfect for those wanting a splash of vibrant colour to their life. I got the pure purple one but because of my hair red undertones, it looks pinker on me (which doesn’t bother me at all). It comes with a sachet of conditioner which is meant to be the aftercare – I would have preferred a squeeze tube so I can save it to help my hair throughout the dye. My ginger hair is a nightmare to colour and even permanent hair dyes wash out. This is my first time used a Schwarzkopf hair dye so we shall see if it remains vibrant until my roots grow through.
